Sun, Feb. 10th, 2008, 05:10 am It's mother-fucking uke time
Starring this sexy dude. Also I have already failed at PEYEIYLJM, as expected. By the time I get a chance to write in this thing, I have forgotten what foods I've eaten... Today I woke up to find a bunch of people in my living room and a ball pit in the middle because I apparently I turn old next week. It was cool and also included biscuits and gravy and pancakes for breakfast, which was tasty. Lunch at work consisted of home made tacos! and also a banana, cheese, and strawberries. Also I am grouchy because I have been working alone a lot which means angry customers with long wait times and boredom as I have no one to talk to. Just sitting at a desk alone in an office building with no one to talk to but customers who exist to torment me. Otherwise life if good.
Mon, Feb. 4th, 2008, 04:25 am What I done ate entry for Sunday the 3nd
This day sucked. I got home from work at 7am to 1. A car with a totally flat tire and 2. No heat in my house. I would normally have been in bed sleeping by 9am, but instead I did the following. 1. Get sick because my tasty breakfast did terrible things to my insides. 2. Put donut on car. Maybe if the assholes didn't air-wrench the fuck out of my tire it wouldn't be an ordeal (also if I had any upper body strength). 3. Drive to tire place who tells me that they can't fix my fire until 5pm. 4. Go to home depot (ugh) and buy thermostat (old one is so amazingly corroded and also doesn't power on) as my landlord is out of town. 5. Re-wire new thermostat. 6. Swear because new thermostat wont turn on heater. 7. Wait until heat guy shows up only to re-seat the wires inside the furnace which makes it work. 8. Sleep for 5 hours. Breakfast: Granola bar at work because I was too busy trying to sleep. Lunch: They have these healthy choice frozen things, which I have been taking to work. Today it was a little pizza thing and was damned tasty. Also some applesauce and oranges. Dinner: (later as usual)
Sun, Feb. 3rd, 2008, 05:11 am Food entry for Saturday the 2nd
I overslept! And my front left tire is totally flat even though I just fucking replaced it a month ago! Awesome!!! Breakfast: Consisted of me swearing and getting a roommate to drive me to work instead of actual eating. At work I had time to eat some rice and broccoli and a Nature Valley granola bar. Love those things. Lunch: I (the lady) usually packs me a lunch to bring to work, as there's not many options to eat out at 2am and it's far nicer to sit at my quiet desk and eat rather than face the cold and hope my badge lets me back in the building. Tonight it was a pita with grilled chicken and cheese and lettuce. Also some cheese-its and natural apple sauce. Also a Mountain Dew because otherwise I would be asleep right now, which is not really advisable. I raided the 4th floor for trail mix on my late break. Dinner: The woman made a egg and cheese sandwich with a pile of bacon and orange juice. Way tasty but a bit too much for my stomach and I kind of suffered for a bit after that...
Sat, Feb. 2nd, 2008, 05:42 am PEYEIYLJ month!
So, I work third shift which is awesome except it completely destroys the concept of "days". You can't really switch your day at midnight as that would be confusing and annoying. I have pretty much settled on days = sleeps. So, it's "morning" when I get out of bed and "night" when I to to sleep, despite whatever the damn sun is doing. I am posting this as it sort of changes how I'll post updates and when I eat foods. Breakfast = whatever I eat when I wake up, between 5 and 7pm. Lunch around 2am usually, and dinner 7-9am. February 1st - Friday: Breakfast: I am off to a bad start! We are low on food-stuffs so I woke up and ate a hot-dog and some frozen pizza that a roommate was making. I goofed around a bit and went off to play poker with a bunch of folks I work with/used to work with. There we had... frozen pizza and junk food. Lunch: After I cleaned them out I took "The Lady" and my brother out for a free dinner, compliments of the people who decided to play poker against me. I ended up eating a pile of shrimp, broccoli, and breakfast potatoes. Dinner: Is pending! My dad is coming up and my brother and I will grab some normal people breakfast with him. I can update this after, but I am planning to just get a massive pile of eggs and sausage. Maybe an omelet! Yay! edit: I ended up getting eggs, sausage, and a biscuit with orange juice at this awesome diner. I didn't end up finishing it all as I wasn't feeling to well for some reason, so felt kind of bad.
Tue, Jan. 29th, 2008, 04:28 am New blogging plan
I think I will only blog on even numbered years. That seems to be the current trend anyway, so I might as well continue it. Also I am mainly posting to get warmed up for PEYEIYLJ month! Yay!

Pictures! http://www.flickr.com/photos/randominterrupt/http://www.flickr.com/photos/thezombiemonkey/Sorry there aren't more, we were too busy having insane amounts of fun. So much damn fun. The past few weeks have been so crazy, going back to school and work and normalcy will be crazy. I suppose I should recap. After her short three day visit worked out, Barbie came back to stay and ended up sticking around for a week and a half. It was great. She spoiled me and my damn roommates with baked goods and delicious food. Everything was going fantastic till I started to get sick. It started out with what felt like a fever. I ignored it for a while but it just got worse. Then the throat started giving me shit. By Sunday night my throat was swelling and it was becoming hard to talk or eat. According to the Doc I got a bad case of strep. I stopped going to school and just slept and let Barbie brood over me. The only thing I was worried about was making it to Oklahoma. She left on Wednesday (I think) and I decided on thursday I was feeling better enough to try. I knew I wouldn't be up to full speed, but I felt I was getting better enough that by the end of the weekend I would be almost back to normal. It paid off and by Saturday I was able to talk and almost eat normally. Thursday Jim and Chris drove down from Minneapolis and picked up Justin and I. We left in the afternoon and drove to lovely Cameron Missouri. The next day we drove to Oklahoma and arrived in the afternoon. Friday I was still very much under the weather, but I managed to enjoy myself pretty well. There was a giant party befitting an internet meetup of this caliber. Wars were declared and won, good times were had. Saturday was a bit more chill, and I was feeling much better, so for me Saturday was good times. I managed to get some decent pictures and got to talk to almost everybody. We cleared out Sunday and after taking Joseph to his bus station (late), we drove straight to Madison. Jim and Chris crashed here for the remainder of the night. I took them down to State Street in the afternoon, which was cool just to hang out a bit more. Ok, so that was my threadbare yet requested report that I am far to tired to add details to. There is already talk about doing this again and that is simply a fantastic idea.
Thu, Aug. 10th, 2006, 06:14 pm OMG DEATH
 | You scored as XIII: Death. Death is probably the most well known Tarot card - and also the most misunderstood. Most Tarot novices would consider Death to be a bad card, especially given its connection with the number thirteen. In fact this card rarely indicates literal death.Without "death" there can be no change, only eventual stagnation. The "death" of the child allows for the "birth" of the adult. This change is not always easy. The appearance of Death in a Tarot reading can indicate pain and short term loss, however it also represents hope for a new future.

Kind of interesting actually.
Sun, Jun. 11th, 2006, 10:27 pm Music Deal!
I like music, so here is the music meme. 1. Turn on your favorite media player and turn your shuffle feature on. 2. Hit "play" and keep track of the next 10 songs that come up. (If you have iTunes, you can make a smart playlist that will automatically list your most recently played selections.) 3. Post your 10 shuffled songs, along with these instructions (and comments on each song if applicable). You are not allowed to lie, omit tracks or otherwise try to make your musical taste seem hipper than it actually is. 1. Seu Jorge - Starman From the Life Aquatic soundtrack of course, which is a great soundtrack. Good song. Action taken: PLAY Rating: 4/5 stars 2. Led Zeppelin - In My Time Of Dying LED ZEPPELIN! Man, this is a pretty good Led Zeppelin track. It is on my computer because Led Zeppelin are fucking awesome. Action taken: PLAY Rating: 5/5 stars 3. Sage Francis - Ground Control Another good song! "A Healthy Distrust" is one of my favorite albums, and Sage Francis is one of my favorite artists. Political without being heavy handed and still managing to be a real solid song. Great production on this track too. Action taken: PLAY Rating: 5/5 stars 4. Venetian Snares - Befriend a Childkiller Once upon a time I wanted to download a Venetian Snares album, but all Oink had was a Discography, so now I have several gigs of Venetian Snares. As such I still have tracks I have never listened to like this one. This song starts out a tame ambient deal for about 3 minutes. Then the samples start up and the track becomes increasingly sample-heavy and industrial, all with the original ambient track running as a background to the lazers and demonic sounding samples playing it. Towards the end the heavy drum and bass line drops in and the track becomes much more aggressive. I don't think I ever listened to this track before, but it will certainly be added the my main Ventetian Snares playlist. Action taken: PLAY Rating: 5/5 stars 5. Aphex Twin - Polygon Window Decent Aphex Twin track. Not one of my favorites, but still a good song. Action taken: PLAY Rating: 4/5 stars 6. Frank Zappa - Peaches En Regalia Hot Rats! A great instrumental track. This is a great song! I am not even cheating! Action taken: PLAY Rating: 5/5 stars 7. Mungo Jerry - In the Summertime Where the damn hell did this come from? Ok, I confess, I did sing along when it came on. Action taken: PLAY Rating: 4/5 stars 8. Venetian Snares + Speedranch - Viva Las Vegas One of the super aggressive Venetian Snares tracks. One of the most listenable from this album though. These are to be listened to at certain times and certain places. Eating diner in front of your computer with headphones on isn't one of them though... Action taken: SKIP Rating: 4/5 stars 9. Pink Floyd - (prototype) Eclipse From a live set of Pink Floyd in 1972. It's pretty great to hear such a studio album done live with only the technology of the early 70's to do it with. Instead of samples we have odd guitar chords, and just plain odd noises. I think you would have to be as big a Floyd fan as me to really enjoy it though. Action taken: PLAY Rating: 5/5 stars 10. Devo - Post Post Modern Man Look Devo, I know you are from the 80's, and you know I love you, but honestly, I just can't handle this shit. Action Taken: SKIP Rating: 3/5 stars Dammit I am having too much fun, and too much good luck. Lets keep going! 11. Mushroomhead - before I Die Wow, I haven't listened to this stuff for a while. Still one of the best sounding (whatever rock genre they are supposed to be in) bands. Action taken: PLAY Rating: 4/5 stars 12. Venetian Snares - She Another song I hadn't heard before. From "Winter in the Belly of the Snake". I have been meaning to listen to this album too. Very cool song. It's a short simple track, classical music with deep longing vocals over it. Neat-o! Action taken: PLAY Rating: 5/5 stars 13. Atmosphere - Give Me A decent Atmosphere track. Not one of my favorites, but it does coin the "My name is Slug, give me a pound or a hug" which is cool. Action taken: PLAY Rating: 4/5 stars 14. Led Zeppelin - Fool in the Rain I really do have a lot of different artists, but I just have to much music from certain artists the number are skewed. Not one of my favorites, but Led Zeppelin didn't make bad music. Action taken: PLAY Rating: 5/5 stars I hope someone read all that, my hand hurts from all the typing.
Tue, Jun. 6th, 2006, 12:15 am Woo
Double Entry! Last week I got a new camera! This is a pretty big deal to me, as it is sort of my deal. I have been using the same Canon AE-1 since I was 13, and it is a bit worse for wear. The lenses are all shot and need replacing, the body is starting to have issues and is really not able to handle any abuse from me any more. So rather then to buy new lenses for an outdated body, I decided to move to a much more modern body, where I could actually invest in lenses instead of throw money at a 15 year old system. I also decided to give up my beloved film and pick up a digital SLR. I will still use film as I love my vintage cameras, but digital just makes sense for my main camera. So I am now the proud owner of a really nice Canon 10D! Entry two! Today my brother and I (he just got a new film SLR as well) went to Olbrich Botanical Gardens here in Madison, where I proceeded to shoot over 100 pictures. A bunch were just experimenting with the camera (it does a whole lot of fancy scary stuff), but I got a few that I really liked. Also shooting flowers is really fun. Also I got attacked by a bird when I wandered down a narrow path under a branch with a birds nest in it. Oh, and I got my Reprographics merch! Both the Reprographics book and the Visitors book. Plus a bunch of mini-ghosts, mini-visitors, and Mr. Snake (with two pink trees). I am not sure if it is possible to have more fun.
Fri, May. 26th, 2006, 02:13 am Weather!
I really could do a blog just about the weather. It would be boring and no one would read it and it would be awesome. Wednesday was pretty damn neat. It has been raining almost constantly all month, and wednesday was no different. At least it wasn't till about 5pm as I was rolling into work. It was starting to rain pretty fierce and crazy. You couldn't see out the window for more then a few inches and the windows were shaking from the sheer force of the rain. As I work in a glass building they tend to make us leave our desks and go to the convention rooms or stair ways when they issue Tornado Warnings, which we did. It was pretty sweet, hanging out and getting paid well to not do anything. Then the water started coming in the lobby. The geniuses who designed the building didn't take flooding into consideration too well, as the lobby flooded within a half hour and the water was actually pouring into the elevators. The best part was one of our server rooms is on the first floor, and as such was filling with water, so some poor saps (not me) got to lift running servers from the water and on to tables to keep everything running. After all this a friend of mine in the National Weather Service sends a couple of us an email saying that there was no Tornado watch, but only a severe thunderstorm warning and it was accidentally 'mis-keyed'. Storms are so awesome.
Fri, May. 5th, 2006, 06:53 pm HELLO INTERNET
Here is a quick update on me ol' life while I am on break at work... There was another fire at the apartment, only this time at 1am in the freezing cold. We all got to stand outside for an hour in our pajamas, which was fun. Luckily I moved the next day so I don't have to deal with that mess. The new place is great. As of now I am still the only person living there, so I have a 3 bedroom house to myself right now, which is weird. Still no Internet access till the 10th or 15th. Aside from being bored though I have managed being internetless very well. I beat Call of Duty 1 and then read a bunch of books. I will be glad to get the internet back though, as I am running out of books quickly. Felix handled the move pretty poorly and he is just now getting to the point where he is not terrified of everything. The new place is pretty swanky though. LOTS of windows and all with screens which is great. A nice deck and balcony, which with the nice weather has been my reading place. Once the other guys get moved in it will be fantastic I think. This concludes the rambly and rushed update. I hope you enjoyed it.
Mon, Apr. 24th, 2006, 08:01 pm Turbulant times
So I guess someone set a fire in the down the hallway from me. Yes, someone SET FIRE TO MY APARTMENT. The (amazingly loud) sirens went off in the hallway about 1pm, which is usually when they test them. No big deal. Except they didn't stop. Eventually I looked into the hallway but I didn't see any other residents in the hallway, but I got out the cat carrier anyway. After sitting around talking to Helena and trying to ignore the horrible noise I decided that I should find out what was happening. As it was incredibly nice out everyone had their screen doors open, so I began to see people walking outside trying to figure out what was going on. One of the old ladies called 911 and the office while I talked to the other people coming out of the building. Felix sat right in the window watching me as if asking me to let him out of the apartment with the deafening noise. One of the people who were milling outside waiting for the inferno to start or the sirens to end was an incredibly hot lady in a mini-skirt, so I talked to her for a while. Then the firetrucks and cops showed up. The alarms shut off so I went back inside for a while then cleaned my car. I was eventually grilled by two different cops and the building was crawling with the police for hours. Apparently someone set a fire down the hall and wrote on the walls. They must have done a shitty job on the fire as I saw no smoke the entire time. In other news: due to my messed up schedule I have to move all my furniture tomorrow, but I can't actually live in the new place till sometime late this week. So I will most likely be sleeping in this apartment in a sleeping bag for a while, then moving. I will also have no internet from tomorrow till I get service at the new place. Oh Boy!

Fri, Apr. 21st, 2006, 01:29 pm Better than porn
With Youtube, google video, and all the other video sharing sites out there, I have grown to ignore the mass of links to oh so wacky internet videos. However today Foiba linked to this video. It's pretty much as the description says. A French filmmaker attached a camera to the bumper of a high performance car and drove at break-neck speeds though the streets of Paris in the early morning. One take, one single cut. One shot to make it perfect. That's all that is really known about the film. As it portrayed a lot of very illegal and dangerous things it has stayed relatively underground and the director has revealed little about it. It is not really known who was driving, what type of car and whether or not he was arrested. Enough of reading me babble and watch the damn thing!
Thu, Apr. 13th, 2006, 10:29 pm Weather
Ok, here is the deal. I know I am not supposed to be obsessed with weather till I am old, but I am. I love crazy weather. I seriously get the biggest rush watching giant heaps of ice fall from the skies and explode onto the pavement. Funnel clouds are incredible and nothing is as beautiful as a sky filled with sheet lightning. Matt> dudes, i just witnessed the most intense weather Matt> fucking golf ball to softball sized hail Matt> with the most intense lightning i have seen in ages jim> AWESOME jim> matt I wish I saw that shit Matt> dude, it was Matt> i lucked out hardcore Matt> i was driving home with some of the most impressive lightning lighting the sky Matt> and i decided to stop for tacos Matt> and just after i stopped the hail started Matt> it was deafening Matt> just giant chunks of ice smashing against the pavement Matt> big ol' dent in the hood of my car too jim> damn fishyjones> man Matt> but so worth it jim> haha yeah jim> man, fuck cosmetic damage jim> that shit is trivial fishyjones> i was going to say, that's destructive shit Matt> exactly fishyjones> but honestly, souvenir Matt> hells yes Matt> i had never actually held hail before Matt> it was crazy Matt> it is basically cloud bullets jim> hehe jim> someone up there is pissed because of the gays jim> and the atheists fishyjones> where do you live again, matt? Matt> heh, i was listening to this awesome radio show on the community station after the hail, and one of the guys was apologizing to god fishyjones> haha Matt> he was like "if you could not throw any more ice at my car, i promise to stop protesting faith based initiatives"
Tue, Apr. 11th, 2006, 11:12 pm On An Island
I went downtown yesterday with my friend Justin to enjoy the great weather and get some exercise. I actually went downtown last monday as well, mostly to pick up David Gilmour's new album, On An Island. I ended up buying the Boom Bap Project album and forgetting about the David Gilmour one. Well this has been corrected, and it is awesome. I am bad at writing about music, but the album reminds me a lot of Wish You Were Here and a bit of Dark Side in places as well. The songs have a similar pacing, and there is defiantly a lot of jazz influence. David Gilmour of course drops some awesome guitar licks, but also plays the sax, bass, and piano. His voice sounds exactly the same as it did in 1975 too. Now my music industry rant. One of my favorite parts of buying albums is the actual packaging. On An Island is basically a book, with hard covers and a cloth spine. The inside pages have some great artwork and all the lyrics and who played what on the songs. The the CD is mounted on the back cover with a piece of foam. I have long thought of CDs as much less interesting then records for the simple reason that CDs are plain and clinical. Now I have a pretty sizable collection of 70's vinyl, and my dad and aunt have huge collections. Vinyl was interesting. They came in different sizes and shapes, they had underwear or rolling papers included in them. When an artist released an album the physical format was as much an art as the music inside. I don't have much hope for the future, especially since digital downloads are already begining to overtake CD sales, but it is refreshing to see an artist still put that much care into presenting their music. David Gilmour is pretty much awesome.
